Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…
Matthew 28:19
Baptism is part of making disciples. Jesus commands us in Matthew 28 to make disciples and to baptize them as part of them identifying with Christ in His death and resurrection.
In 2016, we had our second baptism at Diaspora. It was a wonderful time together as we worshipped God, enjoyed the company of 40+ people and then Bonnie and I baptized our daugher, Molly. Yayyyyy!
Baptism is a public profession of the inner reality of new life with Jesus. And just as we celebrate new life when a baby is born, we celebrated new life with a lots of food and worship. It was a family party, for sure. Because that’s what we the Church are, family.
Thanks Kelly for letting us use your house, yard and hot tub. That was a first for me and I was only a little paranoid about ‘clocking the baptizee’ on the side of the tub.
