Room 5

[In preparation for this room, please get a piece of bread or cracker
and some wine/juice to celebrate communion]

After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, “I tell you the truth, one of you is going to betray me.”

His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant. One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him.

Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, “Ask him which one he means.”

Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, “Lord, who is it?”

Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon.

As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him.

“What you are about to do, do quickly,” Jesus told him, but no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him.

Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the Feast, or to give something to the poor. As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night.

–John 13:21-30

Jesus was celebrating the Passover feast with His disciples. He told them what was about to happen and they were troubled.

He taught them to remember Him with communion also known as the Eucharist or Lord’s Supper.

As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it.
Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take this and eat it, for this is my body.”

–Matthew 26:26

Tear off a piece of bread/cracker, eat and remember Jesus’ body broken for you.

And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it,
for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people.
It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many.

–Matthew 26:27

Take a sip of wine/juice and remember Jesus’ blood which was shed for you.

As you’re eating, think of the heartbreak He must have been feeling at the betrayal of one of His own disciples.

Contemplate how He must have felt for them and the pain they were about to go through.
